East St. Louis Mayor Emeka Jackson-Hicks offers thanks to those who supported her during her recent bid for re-election. Jackson-Hicks was defeated by East St. Louis Councilman Robert Eastern, III on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. 

Jackson-Hicks said, “Thank you to all of you for your continual love and support! I am thankful for the time that I had to serve. I will move on to the next chapter. We have set a foundation. May our city continue to move in a positive direction under the Robert Eastern, III administration.” Mayor Jackson-Hicks served as Mayor of East St. Louis since May, 2015. She said she will continue to offer support and assistance as possible because East St. Louis is her hometown. 

Mayor-elect Robert Eastern, III has been a member of the East St. Louis City Council since 2007. He is expected to be sworn in to office in May of this year. The exact date of installation will be published when established.
